I use game boards for many things. I realize that I need to have some to match the season/ holiday. I am using the company Scrappin Doodles. I only have January, February, and March (Later today) right now but I will be adding more as I get more time over the Christmas break.
I love having the coins and they have to know the name and value of the coin. It will be used as soon as we get back from Christmas break. That would be the 3rd of January. I made it now so I don't have to make it over the break.
They match fronts with fronts and backs with backs. I have more of the fronts because they are harder to recognize for my First Graders.
This is how I keep track each term of what kids got on Spelling and Homework. I make a new one each term because you never know when you will get a new student. It helps me enter in grades onto our standards base report cards.
I realized that today I have one month until we are out for Christmas Break!!! I made this craft with my daughter so I have an example for my blog. This is the gift my kids are going to give their parents this year.
I use this paper on green card stock.
Then I have them draw a circle from a plate and draw lines to make the candy. They can paint or use red marker like I did. They glue the circle in the middle. They put their handprints on the end.
I have the students cut it out in BUBBLE cut so it would look like a candy. Hope you enjoy!!
I have always had a hard time with things for my fast finishers to do. I have a basket of review worksheets (My extra ones) but that is not always enough. I made this poster so I can add things to it when I want and have some that never change.
I made this calendar because I was sick of parents going on vacations during the school year and not remembering what the spelling words are for the week. I gave this to them at the beginning of the school year so they can have it all year.
I like having parents information at my finger tips.
I use these book labels for my classroom. I then make small address size labels to go in the books so students put them in the right place. These are just the first page of the many possible label pages.
This is a game I play after I read Don't eat the Teacher. It deals with sharks.
I have these word wall words in different colors. They are in the weeks I teach the words. They use any game board and ask a partner to spell the word and if they get it right they roll the dice and then move that number. If they spell it wrong the partner shows them the card and then they don't get to move. They keep taking turns. The when someone wins they come and get a new game board.
I have these word family on card stock and laminated so I don't have to make them each year. After the students think of possible words for that word family I show the paper and they have all week to look at it. I then post it up in my classroom for kids to refer to it.
I have parents come and share what they do with the students. I have had parents in the past that bring things for them like flash drives, pencils, paper airplanes, make a pizza and have some delivered to us for lunch. I have also had a parent make a fishing fly with the kids help and I got it. I have enjoyed giving the students opportunities to see a cop car up close, a helicopter, a fire truck, an ambulance, and a big 18 wheel truck.
I give each child a starburst on the first few days of school. Depending on the color of starburst they ask a question that matches the candy. Each day has different questions because if they have the same color as the day before they have a different question to answer.
I just need to figure how to link it so you can download it for free!!!
I am starting to think that blogs from teachers is the best way to get new ideas and to make my teaching better. I was started with blogging thanks to a co-worker. I want to make many of my teaching ideas available to teachers so give me time to figure how to attach the pages. Stay tuned for my learning to improve and for you to get better things from this blog.
